The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is an extremely popular game for speedrunning, despite being over twenty years old. It seemed like speedrunners would never crack the seventeen minute mark to beat the game, but now, that threshold has been broken! Speedrunner Torje combined the “Get Item Manipulation” trick and a glitch that lets the player warp from the end of the Inside the Deku Tree dungeon to Ganon’s Castle to beat the entire game in 16:58. The warp glitch allows the player to battle Ganondorf while still in Child Link form.

I think it’s amazing that gamers are still finding new ways to not only enjoy a game as legendary as Ocarina of Time, but to push it to its absolute limits! I can’t wait to see more speedrunners attempt to break this latest world record. You can watch Torje’s speedrun below.
