Nintendo’s version of Hyrule in Breath of the Wild has a ton of callbacks to locations from prior Legend of Zelda games. But is it possible that one has eluded our attention for over two years? YouTuber GameXplain posted a video where he takes a close look at the layout of Breath of the Wild’s Lurelin Village, and notes its many similarities to The Wind Waker’s Outset Island! I have to say, GameXplain has a strong argument. The layout of the huts in the village, the location of the wooden walkways over the sea, the lookout platform atop the ladder, and the rock formations surrounding the village all bear a very strong resemblance to Outset Island.
So give GameXplain’s video below a watch and let us know in the comments what you think! Is this truly where Outset Island ended up in Breath of the Wild? Is it simply an homage to The Wind Waker’s beautiful starting area? Or is it all just a strange coincidence Zelda fans are reading too deeply into?
