As many of our fans will agree, Nintendo has released a lot of great Zelda games. I even find Zelda II to be a decent experience although I would definitely not put it towards the top. Nintendo has had a great run with the franchise over the course of 30+ years, but there was a dark period during that time. It came during the release of the Philips CD-i and its 3 Zelda games. Many fans consider these games the worst in the franchise and Nintendo doesn’t even acknowledge their existence. What happened that made these games so bad?
YouTuber Dr.Wily attempts to answer this question in a new video. He first gives us some history on the Philips CD-i machine and the relationship between Nintendo and Philips. He then addresses why the games were so bad, putting a focus on camera angle, overall look and cut scenes, and the controls. I have personally never played these games, but at some point in my life I would like to give them a try. I need to experience for myself if they are truly that bad. Have you played them? If so, what was your experience? Let us know down in the comments!
