As technology and people continue to grow, we are able to do things that we were not able to do 30 years ago. It’s an obvious statement and it definitely relates to gaming. One interesting aspect in how it relates to gaming is that we are able to go back to games of the past and “break” them. This allows us to explore areas that we weren’t meant to explore. This is sometimes known as a minus world where the game’s data is stored. Most games have special code in place that prevents you from accessing these areas. The original Legend of Zelda’s minus world had never been discovered until now!

YouTuber SKELUX was able to manipulate some code that allowed him to enter this minus world for the first time. The minus world takes place below the map. As you can imagine, it’s very glitchy but it’s still a site to behold. It’s one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen. For over 30 years I thought I had explored all of Hyrule in the original Legend of Zelda. I was wrong!
