One of my most memorable Zelda moments was fighting Gohma in Ocarina of Time. This was largely because it was the first 3D Zelda boss in the franchise. The whole beginning of Ocarina of Time was special for that reason. At that time in 1998, we had never seen anything like it. I can remember looking up at Gohma as the boss hung on the ceiling and thinking to myself, “That boss looks somewhat big!” Then the boss came crashing down to the ground and I just had a stunned look on my face. This boss was huge! Later in the game I would come to find out that Gohma was actually not that big compared to other bosses, but when I first saw it I had nothing to compare it to except for my experiences from the 2D Zelda games. We have had many visual updates to Gohma in remakes of Ocarina of Time, which has enabled me to re-live this great memory, but wouldn’t it be awesome to see it created in Unreal Engine 4?!
Well, thanks to YouTuber CryZENx, we are now able to see what Gohma would look like with an Unreal Engine 4 makeover. This makeover makes the fight feel so much more epic. The colors on Gohma just pop. It does appear that he designed Gohma to be able to take more hits, so it does take longer than usual for the boss to be defeated, but who really cares?! It allows us to see this awesome visual even longer. How about the updated heart container at the end? I loved it. I believe that CryZENx wants to re-create all of Ocarina of Time in Unreal Engine 4 and I can’t wait for the next video!
