A Zelda Documentary on the Music from Nintendo’s Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild

This video started off strong with a really well edited and touching introduction animation with Kass’s theme, which is easily the best song in BOTW, and some cool footage of the four Champions, Link, and Zelda. I enjoyed the comprehensive reasoning behind why video game music is so important to the story, setting, and mood; or why it should be, in any case. We see several iconic scenes and compositions from almost every game, all excellent examples of how the music helped that scene or boss fight or temple really stick with us as a player forever. YouTuber NintendoBlackCrisis continues on with a really interesting blurb about sound design and the importance of simplicity in a game’s soundtrack. The provided in-game examples and video clips made me want to go back and play Breath of the Wild again for the first time, savoring every new score and sound palette, and noticing tiny audio details with each subsequent playthrough. This is a well-thought, respectfully and individually expressed, and professionally executed video, I enjoyed the heck out of it. I subscribed to the channel and definitely recommend this particular episode in NBC’s library if you’re a fan of the music in BOTW or are just looking for new (or likeminded) perspectives about Zelda. Thanks for reading, until next time!
