A New Theory Regarding a Breath of the Wild Sequel

By Tim Schuldt

Breath of the Wild was such an incredible game. So many awards. So many accolades. Incredible gameplay. The biggest question for Nintendo now is…what now for the LoZ series? Our YouTube friends at Edible Incredible dive in.

Much like Majora’s Mask used the same game engine and gameplay features as Ocarina of Time, the best likely guess is that the next game will take place shortly after BotW concludes using the same concepts (open world, runes, etc.). This is also hinted by the fact that the closing cut scene in Breath of the Wild alludes to Zelda and Link going to check out Vah Ruta after that Divine Beast stopped working. We know that Zelda’s director has talked about taking what they learned in Breath of the Wild and applying a multiplayer aspect. Maybe Zelda is your companion on your next quest. Maybe even you can play as Zelda, just like you can as Cappy in Super Mario Odyssey. The possibilities would be quite endless.

Now I think that we all agree that the open world concept and shrines definitely added something new and different that we haven’t seen before. That being said, I think that we also all can agree that the Divine Beast challenges left something to be desired in terms of dungeons and boss fights. Imagine now if the two were combined…the open world with some of the most legendary dungeons (forest, water, fire, etc.) from our favorite LoZ games. Interesting thought.
